   Hello I have bought a 106 gti gearbox but the man at the scrapyard said its off the later gti now the gearbox code is 20cp80 I have typed it in on google and it says its off a 206 1.1 I want to know if this is right and if so is it the same ratios as a vts/gti gearbox. Thnxs

   If its from a 206 it wont even fit..

   Take it back and get your money back if i was you.
   
   1.1 boxes are almost half the price of VTS/GTI boxes.
   
   They are very similar ratios.. However the vts box is stronger, and your shafts fit perfectly.

   so y has it come out of a 106gti then he said the big gearlike is different

   I've ran a 1.1 box for 40k miles.. Changed it because it started to whine (ran it for 12 months on engine oil)
   
   Put another 1.1 on. So no not weak.
   
   But this is a saxo gearbox, Not looked at 206 boxes.. but assuming it wont fit

   right well I will give it ago se what its like but he did say its of a 106 gti 1.6 16v so should fit

    right ok well im gonna try fit it tomorrow just cant find out what the ratios are

    The final drive is abit better on the 1.1 box, but people say the smaller diff makes them very similar.

    right ok and you think that gonna be the same as the 206 1.1 box?

    I assume so.. Was this box really cheap or something? Don't understand why you would rather strip your car down to see if it fits. When you could take it back and get the correct box

    no it wasn't cheap but I couldn't find any vts gearboxs close and I didn't no it was a 1.1 till today I have no 3rd or 4th gear in mine
