oil in water and water in oil in a unused car,could it just be condenstion?

    bought a 1.1 saxo today off a guy who bought it for his wife from new its a 51 plate and hasnt been used since january as she had a new car and advertising on internet etc was a hard task as he was blind etc

    nice couple and i drove car back today no problems no faults if being very picky a very slight fluctuation in revs sometimes but nothing major at all

    could it be just the short journeys in the 13 years she has had it,they never took it on motorway and did very short journeys everyday untill they bought new car and left it on drive ,he told em they changed oil and filter air filters once a year and he was a mechanic when he had his sight

    doesnt over heat or anything ??

    and if it is head gasket how much should i be expected to pay to have it changed

    Hmmm yeh sounds a bit dodgy. Take it to a garage and get then to do a sniff test, will only be pennies. It just checks for exhaust gases in the coolant system

    Sounds like you've been done, try a local garage - if youre friendly with a garage shouldnt cost a penny. good luck.

    birmingham ,its at garage at mo having mot needed a little bit of welding and rear brakes adjusting but apart from that its seems ok, i took it for a blast down motorway yesterday and did about 20 miles in it and its fine heater works mthe funny idling seems to have stopped from the expired tax disc i think its been stood for around 6 months and its never been on motorway,i know i cleaned the wifes zafira breather pipes out the other day and they were full of yellow gunk from short journeys, but maybe im wrong maybe it is head gasket,

    anyone know how much job would be if it is head gasket,nice idea putting 1.6 in but i only need it for work and back and a 1.6 wouldnt help me in a anyway,

    i dont think ive been had, i could break it or weigh it in for what i paid for it..

    a HG kit is about 20 quid if you can do it yourself. Sounds like the car didn't move and the mayo built up inside. Short trips only isn't great on the exhaust either so I'd also look at that, though the MOT emissions test will give you a good idea.
