Fuel filter? EML

  1. #1
Can a bad Fuel filter cause EML to come on every now and then?

Seems to be when I let my petrol get to the point the petrol light comes on, The car starts juddering under acceleration and cuts out a few times when pressing the clutch. Sometimes the EML comes on, sometimes it doesn't. But I never seem to have a problem when my tank is full.

not the ICV, fuel pump, coil pack or lamba sensor. I also replaced the air filter and breather pipe as it had snapped.

    thanks.

Possibly but i`d have said its more to do with dredging up crap from the tank & its blocking fuel filter.

Is the sensor under the idle control valve a map sensor? Could this cause such problems ?

    Dear OMGASAXO,
I would imagine your problem may be down to a faulty engine sensor

    Dear citroensaxo,
Where abouts would i find the "engine sensor" ?
    Thanks.

I would say put more fuel in the tank...

    Dear OMGASAXO,
Firstly, your engine does have quite a few engine management sensors;-
1- Throttle position sensor, which fits on the inlet manifold and is directly connected to the throttle butterfly ( altough these seldom go wrong )
2- Idle air valve, which is fitted very close to the throttle position sensor, this one controls your engines idling ( these can cause quite a few problems ).
3- Coolant temperature sensor, which is usually fitted to the thermostat housing. One is for your gauge reading on the dashboard. ( These can pack up quite often aswell ).
4- Coolant temperature sensor, again fitted in the thermostat housing. This one is connected with the engines E.C.U, ( Again these can play up too ).
5- Map sensor, which is fitted to the inlet manifold ( This sensor is related to the engines fast-idle, ( an electronic choke system ) ( These can pack up aswell ).
6- Oxygen sensor, which is fitted to the exhaust frontpipe, this one is there to read the escaping exhaust gases, to make sure the fuel/air ratio is met properly. ( These don,t go wrong as often as the other sensors ).
    I hope this helps,
    Vince,
