VTR Overfueling

  1. #1
    Hey guys,

Coming to a bit of a stand still with trying to figure out my over fueling issue.

    So far I've replaced:

    Spark Plugs,
    Ignition Coil,
    HT Leads,
    Lambda Sensor,
    Coolant Temp Sensor,

Also checked compression on all 4 cylinders and its coming through at 165psi with no leaks.

Next port of call will be to check all wiring from sensors and such to check continuity to see if there's any breaks in wiring causing a false reading to ECU, after that will be replacing fuel relay and if needs be ECU as well.

Any and all help will be much appreciated.

    Mal.

As no one had any advice i decided to try and tackle problem myself, turned out to be HT Leads that were on the ignition coil in the wrong order causing cylinders to be fueled when not firing.

Pleased you have got it sorted. Very strange one. Had I seen this earlier I'd have said check (and replace) the FPR. Hopefully that helps someone searching for this problem in years to come

    Dear Malley,
Glad it only turned out to be something quite simple

Cheers for the posts guys, i only found the problem from 1 small picture in the haynes manual that showed the ht's on the ignition coil were laid out differently to mine.

Took a random guess and which one went where as the haynes manual mentioned nothing of the order in which to place them on, fired it up expecting car to run like complete shit, turned out in ran sweeter than ever and no more blue/white smoke out of exhaust and makes a nice rasp too
