So first off bolting them to the hubs, do you just use standard gti caliper bolts? or some of the same size at least in a higher grade metal stainless?

Painting - What colour red does everyone use? i think Cherry red wouldnt be "red" enough. any suggestions?

    Standard bolts fit fine

Do not use stainless bolts to connect them to the upright!!!

    Why not stainless?

They are more brittle than mild steel and rather than bend they just snap.
Stainless should never be used where the item comes under stress and I suspect brake caliper mounting bolts will come under some stress.

You are really needing to look for some 10.9 at least but preferably 12.9 grade bolts.

The size and spec are in the engine bay bolt sticky then look on eBay you should be able to get them for around £10 the set of four

i thought 10.9 and 12.9 was a grade of stainless since all the pictures in the forsale section on here and moaners are shiny haha.

    my bad.

    but i did mean 10.9 and/or 12.9 grade stuff

No stainless comes in a2 and a4 grade

Mild steel comes in 8.8 10.9 12.9 and a variety of finishes

Black is self colour and will rust very quickly
Yellow pasivate and bright zinc plate are the hardest wearing finishes,

So, 10.9 zinc plated will do just fine. gunna try to replace all the important engine bay bolts with allen headed ones anyway. any suggestions for cheap suppliers?

Yeah that's him I think, does a bit of deal if you buy loads I got some from him via 106

If your spraying make sure you mask up well, nothing looks worse than things like the bleed nipples and the pipe across the two sides coverd in paint.

New nipples. new cross over pipe. new seals, new shims, new bolts. only thing not new is the pistons since they were like £30 a pop and there are 4.

    dont have a spray gun.

i have some red caliper paint im tempted to brush that on and then sand it flat when its 100% hard and apply 1 coat of this red to save having to keep coating it over and over with this red stuff...

lazy i know but i dont have time to spend a week painting calipers.
