alternator belt

    not very good with the spanners but was wondering how hard is it to change an alternator belt?thanks in advance

    Joking right?

    Nah I jest mate.

    Quite a simple thing to do.
    Loosen off the lower 17mm bolt at bottom of alt.
    loosen off the 13mm upper bolt (hidden under the mount but you'll see it on the adjuster itself.
    Wind the adjuster in and push alt towards the engine.
    Whip the old belt off
    Put new belt on.
    Wind the adjuster bolt out till belt has around 10mm deflection (so I can push it down about 10mm)
    Tighten up bolts
    And away you go.
    10 min job max.
    Of course this is under the assumption of you having an 8v engine. Not the 16v

    Lower bolt is 16mm

    If your not 100% don't do your own cam belt. If you mess it up and don't realise!!!
