My car failed the mot due to the airbag light being on. sometimes it goes off for a while but always come back. i dont want to sound stupid, but what actually sets the airbag off. I know this is stupid but am i safe to mess around with the conenctors under the drivers seat without it going offb?
Air Bag Problems

#2You can unplug remove the pretensioners easily enough, but if your going to piss about with the drivers airbag or seat airbags I'd disconnect the battery.
-
#3Just disconnect the battery and you'll be fine, there could be a false contact somewhere that causes it to go on/off,quite common on Saxò.
-
#4To be safe, disconnect the battery and leave for half an hour to let the capacitors etc to discharge, then you can check all the connectors under the seats and that lot. Very common 'problem' in Saxos.
If shit comes to shit, take the dials out and put some tape over the Airbag LED on the circuit board, there is enough walkthroughs on how to get them out on here, do some research. Then once you've got it through the MOT sort it properly. -
#5Putting tape over is now a fail.
light needs to come on and then go out... -
#6That wouldn't work, for the new MOT rules the airbag light must turn on when the ignition is on then go off after a few seconds, that's,at least, how it SHOULD work.

#7Ohhhhhh my bad, didn't realise, i got away with doing this on my 1.1 for the MOT didn't realise the new rules covered it.Quote:That wouldn't work, for the new MOT rules the airbag light must turn on when the ignition is on then go off after a few seconds, that's,at least, how it SHOULD work.
Scrap the tape idea then mate
