Following a few issues Ive been having with my Saxo 1.1 First, I've been and had a look under the bonnet following a few guides from here regarding what to look for and resolve some issues.
My first port of call was to see if I could get near the air filter and follow the guide from the excellent post in the FAQ section looking at a basic service....this is what I found under the bonnet

" border="0" class="tcattdimglink" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" alt="" />
A very different looking engine to the one in the guide unfortunatley, so the first question I have is......how do I go about removing the air filter and replacing it with this setup?
second I thought I would locate and review the Fuel filter with a view to changing it later this week when I get my new one, will be getting a new strap as well as a matter of course but I hadnt realised its current condition was this

" border="0" class="tcattdimglink" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" alt="" />
No Strap...instead the garage that sold me this car thinks that this

" border="0" class="tcattdimglink" onload="NcodeImageResizer.createOn(this);" alt="" />
is an acceptable method of holding the filter in place, needless to say its wobbly to say the least and will be getting my full attention before I make any journeys longer than the 5 mins to work and back.
I digress a little, the problems Ive been facing with this car are that when I start the car its fine, no hunting on the revs and no obvious problems with the ICV, however when I change up a gear or try to get up to speed I have very little power and around 2nd gear I get a stutter which at times threatens to stall the car (although it hasnt done as of yet)
Im thinking, changing the air and fuel filters would be a good place to start but as I mentioned...if someone has a similar setup to this under the bonnet, how would you reccommend getting at the relevant areas, also any ideas on anything else that might be creating the problem I described would be most appreciated
Thanks
B
