Power steering but not the pump

  1. #1
    Hi
My power steering has failed so I fitted a tested working pump which worked until I turned the car off, now I turn it on and it's not working.

Tested the electrics... Earth is fine, live is 14v but when the car is started it drops to 0.

    Any ideas where to look?

    Oh mk2 vtr btw

    Have you tried another relay?

Yes still the same. I've just tested continuity on an earth that's going to the relay which is fine.
    I'm stumped

Are your blowers and rear demister working?

Yes both working. I tried "the mod" just incase and still nothing.

In theory if its a wiring fault, could I just re-wire a live from an ignition fed source?

hello i have 2001 vtr and i got sort of same problem, my power steering was working fine and now it isnt. my saxo has the ignition switch bypass where the 2 brown wires under the dash are conneced up leaving the 2 red wires from the ignition not connected as seen on another post, anyway i was moving them about the otherday to tidy them up and i think one of the wires sparked on the steering rack and its knocked out my blowers and my power steering, looked through all fuses and cant see none that have blown and i have triple checked em all, im lowered 60mm all round so as u can imagine manoevering isnt the best lol, any ideas ??

What fuse box have you checked?? There are 2 places... Under the bonnet as well... Check them again... Also put some electrical tape over the spare wires
