Hi lads, just got my first car a Saxo
very happy so far, but my dad thinks the clutch release bearing has gone/is going. Anyone know how much to replace and if so anyone local around Sussex/Surrey that could carry the work out? Thanks
New to forums! :)

#2Hello

Dealer fixed price is £350 including VAT for new clutch kit fitted. (well it was last year)
I'd expect less from an independent garage. make them aware of the dealer price first though!
Also, make sure it is the release bearing making a noise and NOT the gearbox input shaft. often it can make a similar noise. Release bearing noise changes pitch as you press on the clutch pedal slowly. a worn input shaft noise only speeds up and slows down.
A worn input shaft bearing will make no noise when the clutch pedal is pushed down fully. a release bearing may or may not still make a noise with the pedal pressed.
If the car has been sitting for any length of time, the release bearings can be noisy for a few weeks. -
#3Thanks for the reply, we've only just brought it so were not sure if its been sitting around for any period of time. Am I still ok to drive it around till we pay for it to be fixed?
