This fucking wing mirror -.-

So this wing mirrior is fucking and needs a new glass i have the new mirror but it doesn't just fit in

As you can see the old mirrors back part is still screwed in however the screws are so small and so fucking tight i can't unscrew them. The screwdriver is so small as the screws are so small it gives me next to no grip to unscrew them

This is suppose to be a simple job but it's just not working HELP!

(Close up of the part that needs to come out)

They'll screw out in seconds with a torx bit on a ratchet. If you don't have that gear a set of mole grips round the little screw driver might work but isn't ideal.

I have a powertool with torx bit but none of the pieces fit, mole grips on a screw driver wouldn't work because the screwdriver is flimsy

you are trying to undo torx head screws with a phillips screwdriver? really?

Go buy the right torx bits

It's the only one that fits...

£4 for a cheap set of bits.
  7. #7
I didn't realise it was a phillips screw driver you were using. I thought it was a proper size torx driver. A screw driver is obviously never going to work. As Gandi said, go and buy a proper torx bit set that has the correct size bit in it and it's a two second job.

You need a torx set and some leverage...
  9. #9
what is torx and where do i get it from?
  10. #10
It's a type of screw head, used alot within cars. You can buy torx screwdriver sets from any motorfactors, halfrauds etc.
  11. #11
hmmm, okay i'll look into it tah
  12. #12
You just need a set like this (and obviously an appropriate ratchet):

Definately buy a set of torx bits, saxo's are full of torx screws/bolts and you will most probably find alot of use for them if other things need fixing etc.
  14. #14
can't do the job properly if you have the wrong tools. You'll damage the screw more than anything.

Erm that part of the mirror stays on then the mirror clips to it?
  17. #17

the old back of the mirror is still in there, the back of the new mirror looks like this

As you can see it doesn't just clip in

As said, buy some torx bits. (most of these cars are held together with the bastards) undo bolts. Fit new mirror.

    Good lord...

    Round them screws off
  22. #22
For fuck sake it stays on. Seriously losing the will to live on this site.

Remove the clip from the mirror highlighted in red.

Once removed pull out the center and guess what. It just clips onto what you are trying to remove.

The mirror itself and plastic is a whole. (no torx on the mirror, replacement)

Im confused as to why he has to undo that but go ahead with it.

The replacement mirror clips onto it.

I know, i've changed one myself.
