Hey guys. Got a strange problem with my car which just passed it's MOT. Sometimes when I turn the ignition on there's a popping/clicking sound which is the fuse turning on but after that there's a buzzing noise coming from around the fuel pump.
I know the Bosch pumps on these are mechanical with the only electrical devices fitted to them being the stop solenoid which works fine and the immobiliser which is also working fine, the only other culprit in the local area is the glow plug for the first cylinder.
Another thing I'll mention is sometimes the tachometer will move twice on it's own without the engine even running (goes up to about 2k before resting on the stop) and the car still starts immediately even in the cold whilst this buzzing is still going on (the only way to make it stop is by turning the key off and then back on)
The car still runs and drives fine, no misfires, no smoke etc and it's only been doing it since a new gearbox was fitted (not sure if removing the ECU and battery from the car might of caused it to go a bit loopy!) the only thing with the gearbox is it was off a 106 and the earth point was in a different place (corrected by garage) but apart from that I can't think of anything else that could cause it to buzz
