I have a 2000 vtr and the brakes are just completely sh*t I've been told its the load sensing valve the pedal nearly goes to the floor the pads and discs are fine so will it be that load sensing valve

#2Have the brakes been blead?
-
#3sounds more like air in the system, however a seized load compensator will not help matters, just douse it in penetrating oil and give it a damn good wiggling, get the brakes checked by a competent person.1 user thanked this post:

#4If it goes to the floor could be the master cylinder. Any brake fluid in the engine bay?

#5Air in lines or master cylinder/servo imo1 user thanked this post:

#6When I bought it the guy said he had done the brakes the week before I bought I'll try blessing them there's plenty of brake fluid no leaks or that ill let you'd know how it goes

#7Bleading*

#8Blead the brakes still no difference anyone got any ideas
-
#10Yes, I seem to have the same problem with mine, except I get a lot of squeaking noises when I start of, I don't think it relates to the breaks, cause it mostly happens when I am taking of in a low gear, can someone help please!
-
#11^^^ squeaks when you start off? Either mice being scared or your handbrake cable might be a little stuck.
if they feel like shit then they haven't been done. Or he would have a receipt for the service and/or parts wouldn't he.Quote:When I bought it the guy said he had done the brakes the week before I bought I'll try blessing them there's plenty of brake fluid no leaks or that ill let you'd know how it goes
If he's genuine and you're still pushing the floor, then check your master cylinder and lines for leaks asap before it gets any worse. -
#12Blead them no difference foot still goes to the floor going to check the master cylinder at the weekend but there's no leaks from anywhere
-
#13Master cylinder not pushing fluid down.
-
#14Got the master cylinder changed and blead the brakes again works a little better but still doesn't feel right
-
#15Servo, maybe only other thing really. However VTR brakes are wank, I'm in serious need of upgrading now.
-
#16Might try changing the servo then see what happens
-
#17It's the only other thing it can be other than a leak n the brake line.
-
#18There's no leaks or that so shall soon find out lol
-
#19Do you know anybody with a pressure bleeder. We use one at work , 1 man operation and pressurises the system to 2 Bar.
When you replaced the master cyl did you notice any fluid within the servo. Remove the main servo pipe and using a cable tie place in the hole in a downward direction, you need to get to thebottom of the Servo. The reason for the cable tie is it is flexible and can be used as a dipstick so to speak, remove and check for fluid.
With the engine off pump the pedal until it is hard. Start the engine and the brake pedal should slowly go down. If this occurs then the servo is working correctly, if not check for a vacumn leak prior to replacement.
Check for leaks again possible on the back plates if drums fitted. Ask somebody to pressurise the system and check for any bulges within the flexible pipes this will cause a soft pedal.
Check the proportioning valve at the rear. Not many people sit in the back all the time and yes it could be seized.
Just a different take on the concern if you will. -
#20I didn't do the master cylinder I got it of but needed the tool for moulding the end of the brake pipes so took it to a garage but will have a look and see but thanks for that
-
#21You'd have thought the garage would have pointed you in the right direction.
-
#22Yeah I thought so to but they dropped the car of and just left I've not got a bill yet either
-
#23Haven't done anything else to it but they are getting better the pedal is nearly hard sometimes it does go hard but when I turn it of then start it again it goes soft and takes a while to go hard now but it is an improvement
