Important! : rasing my car ( torsion bar trouble)

  1. #1
Hey so i posted on here the other day about my mechanic having trouble with the rear torsion bar, he said it was that rusty he could not remove it and sheered the bolt,he extracted the bolt and has told me i need a new rear axle instead as there is no way of moving them. i dont think he is conning me as he charged me only £50 for 4 hours labour.. he said it will cost £150 labour for the rear axle to be fitted and then for the springs to be fitted.

are the mk1 and mk2 rear axles the same? what do i look out for when getting a rear axle from a car breakers? thanks

what he is saying is that its that rusty, its seized solid, he removed the bolt he had sheered and replaced it, but he said there no chance of removing them bolts. He said my best option would be get an axle from a scrap yard that is at a standard height and replace it...

The very above means he knows fuck all about the job and shouldn't be doing them.

Your best bet is to find some one in your local area on here that has done them before and knows what they are doing.
