sensor near the oil filter on a vtr

as per title. It's on the branch off from the block for the oil filter. It's just snapped off as I am doing an oil change! Can I run it for 150 odd miles without it? Is it a big deal?

Sounds like the oil pressure switch mate.

It does appear to be leaking any oil from it. So you can't drive it without a oil pressure switch?

Just means if your oil pressure drops or temp goes through the roof you won't get a light to tell you

That would explain the spring that came out when it snapped!

    Dear Kmak577,
I think you may also want to try and remove the broken part/s off your broken oil pressure switch aswell, if you havn,t alreadyYou may need to remove the exhaust manifold in order to make access easier.
You may want to put a couple of drops of threadlock on the threads of your new oil pressure switch, and don,t over tighten it, and strip the threads.
I would advise that you don,t even start the engine until you have your new oil pressure switch fitted.
    I hope this helps,
    Vince,

Tbh if that happened to me and I needed to use the car until i got the part.. I'd just drive it.

I bet you've done loads of miles.. Has it ever had a oil pressure problem? Didn't think so .

Unless its low on oil, or you are driving it extremely hard, you don't need to worry
