bit baffled, could use some help..

    so after deciding to colour code my saxo (inside) i got some cathode lights for the foot wells, the ones you connect to the cig lighter, now here is my problem.....

    my cig lighter works (I use it all the time) and the lights work (they had a try me button on them) and I have tried them in my gf's and friends cars, but they wont work in my saxo, anyone had this problem with anything similar and if so help me out?

    Fitting for your new lights doesn't reach all the way into the bottom of the cig lighter socket I suspect. Not making contact = no power.
