Why is a vts more hassle than a Vtr?
  3. #3

  4. #4
i would like a vtr as it is identical to my original engine so im going to stick with that i think

So what you saying is your not going to tell your insurance company & declare it?
  6. #6

With what? Have a search mate - there's LOTS of threads on engine conversions. Seriously.

The 1.6 vtr lump from a mk1 will drop right in. Get it with the gearbox and driveshafts and you're laughing. Just rip out the old engine and box, drop the new lot in complete, jobs done. It's not complicated.

The only issue you may have is with the struts (3 stud wheels or 4?) To convert to 4 stud you will need to use the struts/arb/wishbones off a vtr and just bolt them on your car.

Possible that a new engine mount may need welding in(not 100% sure though)

mine was 3 stud but converted to 4' I have looked around and can only really find vtr to vts or 1.1 to vts conversions, would I not need a vtr ecu and loom them if I got a mk1 vtr engine, also does anyoneknow what colour top the mk vtr is

Mk1(early vtr is a black top)single plug ecu & yes you`d need the ecu plus loom.
