Important! : Serious grinding from DS wheel area..?

   Right i have an 02 VTR and yesterday i turned my radio down to discover the was a loud constand grinding sound coming from my driverside wheel. At first i thought my licence plate had dropped and was dragging along the road but i got out and checked and nothing is hanging from the car. I took the wheel off and nothing is visably broken. The noise does not alter with speed although does seem to stop or at least reduce when i am turning right. I have been told it could be my lower control arm, CV joint or wheel bearings. I personaly dont think its bearings. Anyone had a similar problem, so i can find out what im dealing with here?

   Oh and just a side note its not a knocking noise at all its a really distinctive grinding like i said i initally thought it was my lisence plate dragging along the road so that kind of sound.

   when mine made a noise like this it was a bad wheel bearing... does the wheel have any play when jacked up?

   it seems pretty solid when jacked up and i had someone watch as i drove downt he road and there doesnt seem to be any visible wheel wobble either. Everything i can think of doesnt really make sence due to the face the noise doesnt increase/decrease with speed.

   Could be the carrier bearing?
