    Car: Mk2 VTR 02 plate

Ok problem is I have converted my vtr to a mk1 downpipe without cat and have relocated the oil filter from paper filter to metal twist on filter.

Anyway I need a cat for mot obviously but im wondering can I just use the mk1 style cat instead of swapping everything back over as its a bit of a ball ache to swap filters and everything just for the mot. Will it pass with a mk1 cat?

    hope that makes sense..

    cheers all

As long as its got a cat & passes emissions then you`ll be fine.

We call the cheap cats mot cats. You fit them just before the mot and get them hot they go through the emissions test and then they are fucked. Its because they are not crammed with the precious metals that react with the gasses.

There was a lad recently near us that was buying new cats in bulk from Andrew Page single year ones and weighing them in at the scrap dealers and getting £30 per cat. They soon got wise to it.
