door problems yet again

   when my door is shut and im driving along all of a sudden it opens a bit but is still connected to the latch, the door never opens right up, does anyone know the cause off this?

   Dear Mcgawn,
   Have you tried adjusting the door striker pin ? the striker pin would need to be adjusted outwards a tiny amount, but beware not to move the striker pin upwards or downwards or this will make your door not shut at all.

   Just get a new catch for a couple if quid from any scrap saxo and happy days.

   whats the striker pin vince? is that the bit on the actual car and not the door?

   Dear Mcgawn,
   Sorry for my late reply.
   Yes the striker pin is the bit on the car body
   I think you need to start with making sure that your door is adjusted correctly first at the striker pin. That is why I suggested that you only will need to just move the striker pin outwards by about 1/4 to 1/2 mm tops. ( if you are unsure mark it with a tip ex ) Adjusting the striker pin outwards a tiny tad will relieve the strain that is being put onto the door catch return spring. ( which is could be the reason for your door coming open whilst you are driving )

   solved the problem a wee bit but still does it now and again to u think i should go a tiny bit further?

   sounds like the actual catch on the door side is failing to me, if adjusting the striker doesn't work then try a new/replacement catch.

   Replace the catch, it'll not cost more than a fiver if that.

    Check the door is lined up properly as well,the doors can drop.

    Have someone sit in the car,open the door place a block of wood under the end of the door(nearest the backrest)put a trolley jack under the wood & gently jack it up.Don`t go to heavy handed though.
