Quick tyre question

I know there's a million threads about this but I'm not really getting the answer I'm looking for.

If I put 195/50/15 tyres on my S alloys would it make much difference? The only real reason is price, I can get better tyres in 195/50 for the same price as cheaper 195/45.

I'm assuming the handling would be worse with the slightly larger tyre, however would the fact I've got better rubber although its bigger be a better option than a cheaper set of 45?

Would there be any rubbing issues?

handling will be fine, they're not exactly big, but they might rub a bit, probably a lot more predictable on them than 45's, I certainly found that myself on a standard 1.6 205. swapped all 4 for the very same tyre but in a 50 from a 45 and it was massively less crashy and didn't follow tramlines so violently, and it didn't do snap oversteer as wildly.

vts was designed to run 45's though, so might not be as marked a difference.

Michelin PS3's are coming in at about £60 each on ebay from germany at the mo in 195 50, ruddy bargain.

speedo will be out a little bit.

Got 50 profiles on my vts wheels down 50mm, it doesn't rub

Cheers for that, answered my question in one go.

Plus that will it fit helped, I'm putting them on my VTR and the speedo difference is less than -3% which is less than 1 mph at an indicated 30mph. Arch gap will only close by 9mm so I can't see any problems with rubbing.

    Cheers again
