Hi guys, was driving at a low speed heard a loud pop, almost like a tyre blowing out and the car then started juddering and splitting and from then the revs picked up really slowly it's a phase 2 vtr. Any help would be gladly appreciated

#2Coilpack failure? Does it idle?
-
#3Yeah does idle but just bellow 1000 rpm

#4Like a tyre blowing out?!

does sound like the coilpack has maybe failed.
Unless it's a mechanical problem.
got a vid or pic? -
#5Sounds the same as when mine blew out a plug. Did it twice (blew two plugs clean out). Turned out to be coilpack.

#6Thanks everyone for the replays any idea on how much a new pack would be?
-
#7Try a second hand one (ideally test from a mate before buying). Second hand they are about £10-15, new you're looking at about £40-£50.

#8Your coil pack going made your spark plugs blow out lmfao?Quote:Sounds the same as when mine blew out a plug. Did it twice (blew two plugs clean out). Turned out to be coilpack.
To the op. Some of the pug 206's have the same part numbers as the Saxo's and also have a lot less miles on them well the later 206's do. Just check the coil packs have the same plug connector and the same part number printed on them. -
#9Spot on, yet again saxperience saves the day cheers everyone!

#10Might be a silly question but would a 1.4 furio have one and work in a vtr?
-
#11Yep, was on the motorway down to London, lost one cylinder than 10 mins later another. Took it to a garage and they redrilled it, fitted two plugs. Then driving back to nottingham they next day it did the same thing. So drive 100 miles with a 2 cylinder saxo sounding like a Harley. Few days later swapped for 16v!Quote:Your coil pack going made your spark plugs blow out lmfao?
