Won't start

    I've just purchased a vts that doesn't start.i haven't picked the car up yet as I'm waiting for my mechanic friends recovery truck to be mot'd but the car was parked up one day,was driving fine then 10 mins later it wouldn't start.

    It turns over so starter is fine,cylinders are getting fuel,pump is priming as normal but there is a ticking noise when trying to start it.

    Cam cover has been removed and the timing seems to be fine.....

    This is all the info I have at the moment.....

    Any ideas what could be at fault?

    Hmmm ticking noise, you might be looking at replacing the starter motor, though check everything is earthed properly before you start swapping things.

    Pushstart the car maybe?

    cylinders are getting fuel? you mean the spark plugs are wet (smell of fuel) and it's not igniting?

    you got no spark then, that points a big dirty finger at the crank sensor.

    Maybe a weak battery.

    I was thinking this and I really hope it is,would work out a real good buy then as I've sourced it cheap.....won't know for sure until my mechanic mate looks at it.
