I done a gti into a vtr conversion got the last of it finished last night but then took it out see what it was like apart from the alternator belt rubbing (which I have fixed) its all good till I stopped popped the bonnet and the engine was that hot that I couldn't touch it the fan hasn't kicked it in its as if the radiator just isn't cooling the engine I haven't changed the fans or the radiator yet is that what the problem will be
Overheating

#2I wouldn't expect to be able to touch the engine after a drive. Isn't that normal?
-
#3Maybe but in my vtr after just a normal drive like not thrashing it or that it would be hot but you could touch it but after just a normal drive after I put the gti in I couldn't even touch it at all it might be normal I just wasn't sure

#4The coolant system bled properly? What's your temperature gauge say?
-
#5It's been bled properly yeah the temperature gauge doesn't work since I done the conversion neither does the fuel gauge
-
#616V engine is VERY hot after a drive. Especially the cam cover at the front over the exhaust valves.
If you're paranoid about it, fit an aftermarket temp gauge.
There's a reason the Celsius/Fahrenheit scales exist, hot and cold varies from person to person P: -
#7Yeah the 16v's do run hot. I know mine you cannot touch it at all.. and all thats around it! the mani doesnt help and the underbonnet stuff..

#8Aww I thought it was something wrong lol I will buy a temp gauge but just to make sure
