Oil in water?

So I've got bits of what I'm assuming is oil, as well as what seems to be rust? in my water, but there's nothing at all in my oil and I don't seem to be losing any oil.
There was a tad bit of oil in the water when I got the car, and it doesn't seem to have gotten much worse and I've had the car since the end of September.

I'm just wondering, is this the head gasket going? or will flushing out the system solve this?

I'm driving down to Newquay in a couple of weeks and although I have breakdown cover, I don't really fancy breaking down.

    Thanks, Maria.

Flush the coolant system and the oil system. Then drive around for a bit till it gets up to temperature and park the car. Check both systems the next day to see if it has changed.

If the headgasket is going you can try to squeeze the top radiator hose. If it has a lot of pressure on it and you can hardly squeeze it, probably the headgasket.

Could go to a garage and get a sniff test done. Only cost a couple of quid and you'll know if its the head it not.

Standard 8v issue the gasket breaks down by the oil and water way allowing a bit of cross contamination. Doesn't boil off as its not getting into the combustion chamber.
It's worth doing a head gasket change if you are keeping the car but i drove round for ages like that in my old 106 and did give it death, had no issues
