Sluggish then overheats

   I was just driving my saxo then it's just went all sluggish then overheated its like the water wasn't circulating anyone got any ideas as to what's wrong

   And I've left it to cool and now it won't rev about 5000 rpm when it usually goes about 7500

   you dont need to rev to 7500 in a vtr. You dont even in a vts.

   I swapped the engine with a 106 gti not sure of the full spec but it would normally go to 7500 but its only going to 5000 it feels like something's blocked but I don't know I'm at the side of a road leaving it for half a hour to see if that makes a difference
