driving up the motorway tonight and the car suddenl makes this drooning sound when i take my foot of the accelerator, but when i put the foot down it nearly goes away till i take it off again any ideas? i have 1 could it be a dry driveshaft when it heats up and expands and rubs on the cv? or is that a bit far fetched? also the cv isnt burst.

I had this when I first got my saxo, only made it once car had been running for a while usually at speed so on dual carriageways and motorways, after topping up gearbox oil it dissappeared and hasn't come back since and done hundreds of motorway miles since. Worth checking before anything else as its easy to check and top up.

i had this, passenger side driveshaft. jack it up and spin the wheel.

yeah but spinning the wheel might not make the noise as it only happens on motorway driving after being driven for a while holding say speed at 60 so how would i know by spinning the wheel,

mine use to be when it warmed up, say 40+ mph if i would de acclerate or change gear it would make a whiring noise. foot back on accelerator it would disappear took it to my garage they jacked it up, span the wheel made like a sound of a wheel bearing gone, but had no play, changed the driveshaft and bam noise went.
