i am looking to modify my engine in the next few months. wondering what
4-2-1 manifold i should buy and also i have a carbonfibre induction kit but i want to buy either a bmc or a pipercross viper wat do people think. 1 more thing whats peoples views on superchips cheers:thumbup:
  2. #2
superchips aren't worth the money mate.
  3. #3
    4-2-1 supersprint, miltek
personally id go green enclosed with filter
superchip, pants waste of money. tada
  4. #4
o rite yeh got one thats indentical to a green filter but it looks bollocks. o rite so superchips r pointless. well i want to get it to about 150bhp wat would u recomend?
  5. #5
induction, fannymould, full system with decat, cam change and remap should see near or round about 160 bhp
  6. #6
yeh i was thinking cams but ive heard u have to have a remap which costs a fari bit.
  7. #7
wat bout ported an polished head
  8. #8
a remap will be about 450. good headwork is gonna cost you the same but no many seem to do it when changing cam. without a cam change your not gonna get nowhere near 150bhp.
  9. #9
wen ur talkin 150bhp u mean at the flywheel or the wheels? i got a sportex backbox, de-cat pipe and a enclosed air filter. i did have a dastek ecu on it as well and when i had it mapped it was running 125.8 bhp at the wheels thats about 153 bhp at the fly with 22% transmission loss that about what ur lookin 4? its not got much torque tho only 112lb-ft at the wheels still quite quick tho bt i aint got the dastek no more, my alternator failed and my car was running about 18v instead of 12 and it blew it up!
  10. #10
ben its perry member two tone saxo up laker.u blown it up now fella?
  11. #11
na i blew up my dastek ecu which cost me about £400. although on sat nite my pinion shaft bearing expired so ive got another gearbox due 2moro and im gonna rebuild my old 1 as a spare. wot mota u got now m8? daves got that fiesta rs turbo u was gonna get, i thort that was fast? i beat him up laker! well.... i wouldnt now, my cars on axle stands! lol if u wana email me me email is ben_2k2000@hotmail.com
  12. #12
Personally I'd avoid the miltech manifold, I've had two and both have been a poor fit

ben2k5 - those power figures soujnd s bit "quote me happy" that said, all engines are different, you'd have to have a bit of luck to get that power though
  13. #13
I fink aimin at a set bhp is pretty pointless, if its top notch stuff your lookin for and your wallet well stretch go for:

BMC Carbon Induction kit (Makin sure the cold air feed is as low and near open atmosphere as possible)

    SuperSprint S/S 4-2-1 Manifold

    De-cat

and as for the cat back exhaust, well any of the top brands will do wat you want maybe one or two ponys in it but not a great difference. Alot of it is wat they sound like.

If your finkin of changin cams, Portin & Polishin heads and remaps save your money and turbo it. Pound for Pound it makes the most sence. Post a few threads for Turbo owners to tell you wat they think NA tuning or Turbo Tuning.

But thats just what I Fink

Nice l;ogic VTS_16_Boy except for a couplem of things.

    1. Turbo'ing will cost double.

    2. My Camm'd VTS does 35mpg, a turbo'd one does around 20mpg

    3. A mate of mine who is into there forced induction recomends that you expect the car to break down every 2 months if its turbo'd
  15. #15
    think not FINK!
  16. #16
yer me too mate. id rather cam and stick some jenvy's on her or maybe a gsxr diy jobby and turn out with about 180bhp which will be fast as fuck and sound awsome and be a damn site more reliable than a turbo! id be happy as larry with that

No need to get arsey matey. I just said that it was a bit high for a VTS but all engines are different so you may have a high scoring one. I've been quoted 148-169bhp for mine at different garages. Its all balls. Unless I'm selling it of course when it has 170bhp

So what cams are people running? and wat are your cars idle like?

I used to have a XR2i 8v and changed the cam and idle was bit lumpy to say the least, horrible in traffic cos you could see people looking over and sayin "look at that XR2 that sounds rought" but that was followed by "Goes alrite Tho"

Anyway set of Cams £500, New Manifold £200-300 plus anyfin else you fancy doin I still rather save abit longer and go for the blown option.

    Plus lets no forget Supercharging

    But hey IMO

xr2i idle would be lumpy as you cant remap the ford mfi management. you can however remap the saxo ecu, so add 400 onto your price list, plus gmc sig-con is also an option.
  22. #22
how much bhp does cams and a remap add then? thanks
  23. #23
    dpends on cams.
  24. #24
piper cams......and a remap other than that standard vts engine
  25. #25
he means which model cams. ie profile
  26. #26
as above, depends what profile cam you get to where you get the power and how much power you get.

    lol sorry m8 i wernt meanin 2 b arsey
  28. #28
whats the best cams to get for a standard engine then? is it really worth it?
  29. #29
a set off kent pt51 or some cat 708's mate then a re map but it isnt worth doing it to a totally stanard engine you'll want to improve the breathing to see decent gains
  30. #30
    Supersprint manifold
    Bmc induction
    Omp full system
    cat cams 708
    port/polish/skimmed
    Re-mapped
  31. #31
you only have 1.5mm valve - piston clearance with 708s so cannot skim a lot off the head. 0.5mm max.
  32. #32
what kinda power is it pushing out with that spec?
  33. #33
iv just bought some 708's. but i still have a standard vts centre section. the rest of the system is aftermarket(supersprint 4-2-1, magnex de-cat and a powerflow backbox) the standard centre section is smaller in diameter than the rest of the system. what kind of a power loss do you think this is giving me?

its just that im trying to decide whether to fit the cams and get a remap or sort out a decent centre section 1st?

    cheers guys
