Wiper Motor Speed 1 and 'Park' don't work.

The problem occurred around 2 months ago, at first I lived with it then the wipers cut out completely.
I ordered a second hand wiper motor from eBay and replaced it. All seemed to be fine, all functions were working correctly then 2 weeks ago it happened again, speeds 2 and 3 work fine but when I flick them off they just stop, rather than completing the cycle. Speed 1 doesn't work at all.

Obviously there is something causing this to happen, I doubt I'm unlucky enough to have 2 dodgy wiper motors. I had read that it could be a loose wire in the multi-pin connector but they seem to be fine.

I can only guess at it being the stalk or a relay now but I am unsure. Has anyone else had this?

    Try replacing the stalk first.

Well I've replaced the stalk and it hasn't fixed the issue, so I guess I move onto the relay now then. I'm puzzled by this though because if it was the relay wouldn't all functions suffer?

Possibly, but as speed 1 on the wipers is the relay switching on and off rather than just being on it could be a dodgy relay.

Can you hear the relay clicking on when you put it to speed 1?

There is a very faint click from the relay when the wipers are turned on. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a new relay however. I've contacted the local Citroen dealer and I'm waiting for them to get back to me about it.

I assume if the relay doesn't solve it then there is a wiring issue?

I've got a spare which I liberated if you get stuck.

2 wiper motors, 1 stalk and a relay later, it turns out it was the relay (always the last thing you try!)

Thanks to Mickswan for supplying it!

No bother mate, glad you got sorted.
