Important! : LOST KEY FOR VTS 2000reg

  1. #1
    Hi all,
I have lost the one and only key for my VTS. Can someone please give me some guidance on what to do. I am looking at lock replacement route as insurance does not cover.

Help especially with immobiliser + replacing the locks would be useful. There is no central locking for some reason. Not sure if the car should have a key fob ( remote central locking )

Any help would be much appreciated as am without transport until can get sorted.

    Thanks in advance.

Smash the window and call it a day

Yeep, smash a rear window (cover it with a tape, or film first, that's your acces to car, then replace locks and window.

You'll have central locking on it if had a fob. Last owners probably lost it.

Have you not got the card which has the code on it? Might be in the document wallet if you got one if you have you could get a key from a dealer. If not you'll need to pop the window and replace the locks. The immobiliser is coded to the key, again you'll need that little card.

I have access to the car luckily.

I dont know if there was a fob. Ive never had one. Ill have a look for the card but i think thats missing too. Can a key be made without it?

Is there a way of turning immobiliser off?

Im trying to find the cheapest and easiest way to get back on road.
    Thanks

oh dear. It's not just about getting the key cut, but also the transponder chip inside of it. Citroens may be able to sort you out with the chassis number, V5 and other proofs of identity/ownership.

That's what you need the card for so you can get the transponder programmed. Citroen might sort you out, it's worth phoning up and asking. If not its going to be a bit a right fuck on.

I'm sure you have to have the car running to disable the immobiliser.

    find the key.

    There is no "cheap" fix.

You will need Locks, ECU, immobiliser and a new ignition barrel with a key to get you back on the road.

Spending the same money, you can have your ECU unlocked, but then you still ened new ignition barrel and door locks.

ALL VTS's come with remote central locking. The VTS is top of the range in terms of trim.

You can get into the car without smashing any windows.

Shush Danny We don't need to remind criminals how easy it is to break into spaxos.
If your central locking aint working, check your fuses.
