ecu reflashing

  1. #1
Hi ive just been told that i need to get my ecu reflashed as it my have corrupt files on it, which is causing it to keep flashing up codes P0300, P0171 P0134. the car is miss firing, rev's out black smoke, and when idle, revs go up and down. have changed everything possible, to render this fault - o2 sensor, new plugs, new coil pack, new throttle housing, cleaned ICV, and to no avail. does anyone know where i can get the reflashing done. I live in Birmingham.

    Thanks Trace

if i got a unlocked one, would i have to have the locks changed, or just get it fitted away we go, not to knowledgeable on ECU things lol.

unlocked ecu means it wont be paying attention to the immobiliser box inside the carso if you have a car with a key based immobiliser (most later saxos are like this) then the car will just start regardless of whether the key has the correct immobiliser or not.
Only way to get it immobilised again is code to your current immobiliser box to the new ECU or fit an immobiliser box, ecu and transponder ring from a donor car then put the chip out of the donor key into your own key.
All a lot of hassle for the sake of a shitty immobiliser thats not really going to stop thieves these days

Wrong, if its the wrong immo or key the ECU will just lock instantly again. Unless the pins are cut.

Yeah you are correct but if the ECU is unlocked (and I'd assume they'd have read the guide to how to do this on here) then having the old box plugged in when you fit the new one is asking for trouble, make sure its unplugged then it'll be okay. Possibly should have said that
