Scrubbing

  1. #1
When I go full lock on my saxo the tyres start scrubbing it never used to do this anyone know what it could be
  2. #2
its too low, tyres too big, wheels wrong offset.

broken spring, bent strut, bent wishbone/s.
  3. #3
It's lowered about 40mm I think the alloys are the same size as standard vtr ones and tyres ar the same size aswell
  4. #4
    Wishbone
  5. #5
I've checked it over the wishbone looks fine the strut also looks fine but in my brothers car was making the same noise a while back and the result was a broken spring I've had a look but it's not broken and can't see any cracks on it

    Dampner?
  7. #7
    Will have look and see
  8. #8
I think it could be the dampers.. For them being standard dampers and for that corner being lowered or what ever shortens the life of them

Your dampers could be completely fubar - but that wouldn't cause the wheels to rub.

If you are still on the same wheels as before, jack the car up and check the ball joints and wishbones. "looking" ok doesn't mean it IS ok

Check the track rod ends as well.

Or your springs have sagged with age, so the car is lower than it was before.

Or the wishbone is bent somehow.

ive n0ticed this with mine recently I thought it was just hearing things, I only hear it when on one particular turn on a mini roundabout rest of time its normal. but like you its only down 40mm and standard shocks and apex springs.

I've just remembered that before it started scrubbing when it when full lock left there was a loud clunk but now it doesn't do it it just scrubs don't know if that's any help

Sounds like the bottom ball joint might be gone. New wishbone?
