Axle direct do them for £249 reconditioned ones delivered aswell, but will need yours in return when it's off the car.

you need a whole refurbished axle.

I had this problem on my 1.5D, the stub axles themselves are buggered. you cannot fit new bearings.

It's very very dangerous to drive with an axle like that. If you have an accident knowing your axle is unsafe, it'll invalidate your insurance as well.

To be fair you've got a knackered beam and a problem at the front end which is probably caused by you hammering round everywhere and probably smashing it over speed humps.

Going to be £250 for a axel plus whatever for the front, if your not going to do it yourself you'll be looking at a few quid for a garage to sort it out.

Probably be more than the cars worth.

Axle went on my 206 few month back same thing. Paid 150 for axle 70 for fitting it. So doubt will cost what the car is worth. Theres also a scrappy near me (full sutton) that does axles for 60 quid but you gotta take it off yourself. Its Called u pullit.

Trouble is fitting 2nd hand you don`t know how much life is left in the axle.

Also 206 axles are a better design and last longer

on a 106, I'd say a second hand axle won't last you more than 20,000 miles.

    Or less hammering speed humps.

I got air in my 106, and when it landed the axle broke.

No play before hand or camber

106 axles are very weak. needle bearing spacing is all wrong and the contact area is small.

    Phosphor bronze bushes FTW!

Thats the second time i've heard someone mention bushes for the beam. Does somebody make a kit? it sounds like a great idea, albeit at the expense of some small bump compliance.

Pretty sure you can buy the bushes on ebay. When I had my vtr recently, I was considering changing them because the axle was knackered. Ended up scrapping it in the end.

Just get some bushes made up at a local machine shop. give them the dimensions.

Outside diameter is interference fit, inside diameter is transition. state sizes and material.

    voila.

Or IMaxle sell a kit, but it's cheaper to get an axle with the kit already fitted.
