#3Yeah mate, nice driveshaft problem you have. Mines exactly the same I've just not got round to replacing it yet. You could replace the boot and pack it with grease, but IMO your just delaying the inevitable.
I knew my top bearings were gone when I drove over rough and it sounded like shit. If your replacing the driveshaft you may as well take the strut off as its not much more work and try turning the mount by hand and see what the bearings feel like. Smooth ok, rough and notchy there fucked.1 user thanked this post: -
#4theres no metal below a cv joint? If it was leaking grease then it'd go on the floor. Either way just get a new driveshaft saves messing about.
Knocking could be numerous things, other than the shaft check mount bearings or lower balljoints1 user thanked this post: -
#5its the inner joint a ment sorry and its dropping onto the bit where the wishbone middle bush is, also its defo not knocking from wishbones as there both new, how do i check the mount bearings? also here is a video i found on youtube with the exact noise i was talking aboutQuote:theres no metal below a cv joint? #6yeah replacing the drive shaft is proberly the easiest option rather that just re greesing lol and good idea about the top bearing when i have it off anywaysQuote:Yeah mate, nice driveshaft problem you have. #7chances are its probably the shaft. Can swap a passenger side shaft out 30 minutes, a little longer for a drivers side
