Fan probe thingy

   I'm wiring my fan, but I've stumbled across a metal pod looking thingy.
   
   Checked the diagram but it wasn't mentioned anywhere.
   
   Anybody know what this thing is and what it does?

   possibly after market thermostat to tell your fans when to turn on?

   That would seem odd since the relay is activated by the 2 way thermoswitch in the radiator.
   Maybe a safety thermostat?

   Might be wrong but i thought that was for the air bags, when it gets smashed deploys airbags??
   
   Just because my VTS has one but on the inside of the slam panel

   neither of the above!!
   
   its the resistor for the low speed on the fans, without that plugged in the fans wont come on till the higher temperature that the high speed works on.
