Important! : Power steering question?

  1. #1
I dont like pas so i took the relay out to turn the pas pump off, on my 02saxo1.1 will this damage anything ? And when my pas is on (relay in) first turn of key / ignition/lights on dash without car running, the pumps is running i can hear it, it is an electric one, just a question because i thought that the pas pump wouldn't start coming on/working till car was fully started, not important just asking, any ideas?

It's an electric PAS pump, it'll do no damage you'll just have heavy steering. First turn of the key will be your fuel pump priming.

Put the relay back in and disconnect the pump cable, that'll knock it off for sure.

No its only priming/whining when the relay is in, when im actually using the pas when its switched off it dont make a noise, i meant to say is it normal to her it whem you turn on the keys but not fire ip the engine?

    No.

the PAS pump comes on ONLY when the engine is running.

If you're going to remove the PAS, remove the pump and the lines, to make the steering lighter. no point pushing round all that fluid.
