I understand roughly how to do it by pulling the bars out but people are saying it's easier to hit the bars out with a hammer. What I don't under stand is if you use a bar and a hammer and hit the bar inwards how do you go about pulling it back out again? Or is that the complete wrong way of going about it? Cheers lads
Sorry torsion bar question?

#2It comes out the other side, lol

Do the passenger side first. -
#3Ahhh so I just knock it back in from the other said .. I was lead to believe there was a separate bar for each side?

#4There are three torsion bars.
One is the ARB, it comes out first. it's held in by the end plates.
The main bars themselves, you hammer out the "top" one from the passenger side, to remove the drivers side trailing arm.
Then you can hammer out the lower bar from the drivers side, to remove the passenger arm. -
#5So if I hammer the top bar inwards from the passenger side does that mean the drivers side hole trailing arm will be pushed out wards with the bar still in position or will just the bar it self be pushed out if that makes any sence

#6Mate if your really unsure on how to do it then let a pro do it.Or you risk doing more harm than good.Quote:So if I hammer the top bar inwards from the passenger side does that mean the drivers side hole trailing arm will be pushed out wards with the bar still in position or will just the bar it self be pushed out if that makes any sence

#7I did mine with little/no knowledge
Im not a mechanic either.
2 bars come out (with force as bolts/washers are generally rusted to fuck)
Then you move the...erm, back wheels up (which lowers the rear)
Slot t bars back in and they will go in crossed like X becuase the back is lower.
Washers, screws back in. drop it down and watch it settle..
Bear in mind you may need to replace bolts/washers for like for like. I have a metal shop close by that sorted me out when i lost bolts or screws etc.
Good fun if you dont need your car for daily drive. otherwise id go down to a garage and pay £x 100 for them to do it in a matter of hours.
