   Would a weak earth or no earth cause the engine not to start? And if that's the case would it make the engine management light come on? Sorry about asking so many questions

   Poor earth would make the engine not start yes,don`t know about the eml though.

   It depends on what you mean by 'not starting'. If the engine struggles to turn over then it could be a bad earth. If the engine turns over normally but doesn't fire it could point to something else say crank sensor which in turn would put your EML light on.
