Important! : HUGE de-cat question :/?

  1. #1
Okay before i ask my question i know decat is mot faluire, i have 12month mot and will buy a 2nd one to get through mot next year,

Now my big question, i habe the manni and down pipe which has the cat on, (not as simple as the cat on the centre of the car or is it?) its the down pipe with the car and square bracket (4bolts) to mani, im short for cash meaning can afford it but dont really want to go the pro way about it, so question one...

    1) if i go scrap yard and buy a down pipe without the car onit, think its the down pipe before 2000?? Mine is 02plate, will that bolt straight to my mani and straight to O ring bracket?

    2) if not ^... Can i remove down pipe becauset cat out and pipe tonthe bracket that bolts to mani with abit of welding? Best idea?

    3) i dont want to buy a pro system mani all the way through.

    4) smash cat open, dig around, weld closed?

    5) your idea?

I probs sound like a tard lol, but i want to do it, cheapest way, i understand mot man won like it, i understand cheaper isnt always better, but i do need advice so let me hear it guys, oh and 1.1i 02 thanks

that was quiet tricky to read. but i think i made some sense from it.
Look for an older mk1 manifold and downpipe from vehicles fitted with an underfloor cat.

Being as its a 1.1 is it really worth it?
De-catted my Vtr and i havent noticed a worthwhile difference. Just a nice raspy noise.

Thats what im looking for the noise and cheers sounds like a plan!
  5. #5
yep just go for the mk1 set up mate
  6. #6
Yeah mk1 setup, did the same with my vtr (cat in mani) I did need to relocate the oil filter though so I'm unsure if you will as well?
  7. #7
Youll need to relocate your oil filtwr to fit the mark 1 manifold
  8. #8
You don't HAVE to relocate it, it'll fit, but very very close to the oil filter and ten you won't e able to run the lambda sensor as if the oil firer is so close
