Spacers on Standard Bolts?

  1. #1
    Hi Everyone,

I have added VTS wheels to my Saxo VTR and changed the drop links.

It sounds and looks like the drop link bolt is now slightly scrubbing against the inside of the tyre.

Am i right in thinking wheel spacers (5mm) should fix this?
    Anyone suffered this before?
Would standard wheel bolts still work with 5mm spacers?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

Firstly if a drop link bolt is rubbing then you have something wrong.

Do not use standard bolts with spacers no matter how thin the spacer.

You need longer bolts equal to what spacer you use

Deffo something wrong, I've not long put S wheels on my R and have no problems. Jack it up, turn the wheel by hand and find out what rubbing. If its rubbing the drooling something needs done about it.

Just measured mine with S wheels on and there is 15mm clearance between the droplink bolt and the tyre so no way should you need spacers. Oversized tyres maybe? Is it rubbing on both wheels?

I just jacked it up to check the clearance. I can wedge finger between the inside of the tyre and the drop link. Must be between 10-15mm as TomiX said. It just seems a small gap.

This might be stupid but the Bolt should be on the side closest the wheel right? haha
