bloody clio again!!!

    ok people in the know bout Clio's, its a 03 1.4 16 valve version.
    now for a few weeks its been doing the idle valve bull that the saxo does revving itself and trying cut out if you don't give it a bit of welly, its on my to-do list of cleaning or replacing (once I find where it is)
    now been out for a long ish drive, came home cos it was sounding like a tank from front end, pulled up on drive popped bonnet, and at first it sounded like the belt on the left was on way out, turned car off and pushed n prodded the belt and it was solid not worn, went to turn on again, and it fires but doesn't run, cuts out straight away now I cant figure out what hell it is.??????
    checked oil there's plenty as far as I know all rad n fan was working so not over heated or anything and battery is all fine too.
    your help as always appreciated as cant really afford to take to mechanics right now with baby on way n Christmas and all saxo insurance n gumf

    Is it getting fuel?

    gonna assume yes as it does start for bout a second then cuts straight out

    Teat the basics spark fuel etc, crank sensor not sure if this model has an immobiliser as I only
    have looked at the sports and dcis really

    well i'm guessing as it fires its getting spark and fuel but just doesn't stay running, no lights come up on the dash as in immobiliser or even any faults

    air filter (dirty, wet or both) and air getting in? It will cut out if no air, try and check that?

    It's was running bout 5 mins before and had a good 45-hour drive in the dry. Then came home opened bonnet cos it sounded like bad of bolts and then boom cut out and ain't started since well stayed running

    as above seems to be getting spark and fuel as it fires but doesn't stay running, everything in bay is dry, no warning lights on dash and no fault codes showing, checked the bay as at first it sounded like it was a belt but the one I can see Is in tact and nowt wrong with it

    anyone else? must be a mechanic on here who can offer a opinion

    ok it can get it to run and stay running as long as I have my foot on the accelerator once my foot comes off car dies, still no fault codes come up, and air filter is clean as its been replaced?
    could this be icv? also still need ot buy a Haynes as I cant find icv anywhere were I can see help please

    sounds like the icv to me

    Possible throttle body but that should show up on the code reader unless its a cheap machine

    There's not even a fault Code on dash and reader isn't finding any, so you'd go with my thinking that icv needs replacing and then hopefully a running car?
