New saxo owner

Hi all I have recently brought my first saxo (vtr) it's been modified and goes like stink when it goes :-/ since I brought the car 8 weeks about has been to the mechanics no less than 5 times eeeek and has cost me double what I paid for it .......

Despite this I am hooked on my little French mechanical failure and refuse to give up and sell it on I have the saxo bug :-( are the any other saxo owners in Hertfordshire who can give me good advice and recommend garages ect also I am keen to tidy up the body work and display the car at cruises but not having a modded car for a number of years I'm a little bit out of the loop as to when and were events take place in my area or surrounding areas any local vtr/vts owners please get in touch

    Welcome!

That sounds very unlucky. What problems did it have?

    Hey!

I live in Luton and if my car passes its MOT will have it up here with me, so very close.

The good thing about saxos is you can do most of the work yourself, like above what problems did it have/does have

Hi guys yer it's had a catalog of issues firstly I was driving back from Bedford to welwyn garden city as I hit the a1 the car started to misfire like crazy only on acceleration the issue stopped and I fort nothing more of it 2 days later I went out started the car as normal to go to work got 100 yards and it died lost power all together and sounded like a dodgy combined harvester took it to my local garage were they told me the plug (number 3) had popped and I needed it helicoiled and a new plug :-(

Driving back from Cambridge my clutch pedal all of a sudden went flimsy felt like the cable had snapped tried limping it home in 3rd gear only for about 2miles down the road my engine mount bolts on the gearbox side had sherd and the engine basically collapsed into the bay ( not much fun ) £400 and some new drive shafts later the engine was back were it was ment to be :-) 3 days after this I was driving the Hitchin when my power steering cable (metral rod) decided it had had enough and cracked squiring fluid everywhere the smoke was incredible I fort it was on fire got this issue resolved and it lived once more :-)

1 week later I was driving back from lakeside (m25) when my exhaust took it apron itself to have a look around Brentwood without taking the rest of the car with it :-/ it's blown 2 maxi fuses (probably the ice to be fair) and the on Sunday evening I decided to enter into a highway duel with a 3series BMW I don't often boot it like I did and I got to say I was leaving this bm looking a little silly as I pushed into 4th doing about 100 bang lol and the tractor noise was back as I type this it's in the garage having yet another plug port helicoiled

Other minor faults have accourd like airbag warning light doing basically what ever it wants when ever it wants I'm told this is easy to sort tho and engine manage light basically has a mind of its own to I should stress the car has been modified (not by me) and I'm unfamiliar with modded French cars so far the car has cost me in repairs well over £1300 but I'm not giving up on it am I mad lol

Wow thats some bad luck! Has it done loads of miles, had loads of previous owners or not had a service ever!?

The garage didn't check any of the other plugs then?
It must have been highly modified to leave any of the BMW range even old ones to be honest

The garage did say the was an intermittent misfire but could not work out what was causing it and recommended a new coil pack glad I never replaced it as it turned out trap 4 was a none runner the list of engine mods is crazy it's had an updated ecu I'm told this is a stage 2 high performance race chip but that might as well be in French :-) its had the head re skimmed about 14k miles ago straight threw pipe that makes it sound super beefy I'm pretty sure the the breather on it is not standard it's got a close shift gear box what ever the hell that is the induction kit would not look out of place on an f1 car to be honest I'm not sure what half the stuff under the bonnet is or does all I know is it looks very pretty makes some nice sounds and not much beats it lol list of conquests include a 20l golf gti the 3series BMW I referred to 1.8 Audi a3 Honda civic 1.5 si ( not proud of that) kept up with a focus st till I lost my bottle and I'm afraid to say got out driven I gave up making other Saxos and fiesta ztech's and even gti pugs after about a week of owning it as I relished very quickly this was nothing but a mer waste of fuel as you can imagine I ain't really drien it as much as I'd have liked I think the mechanic has done more miles than me oing his post work test drives :-/

Get some pics up and use paragraphs.

I once raced a Ferrari in my 1.1 and won, the Ferrari was stationary.

It's cool mock me all you like I'm not pretending I know what things mean its what I was told I know very little about cars engines and chips this is an honest post I came here to find out what half the stuff under my bonnet was and if the faults I have had are a result of the modifications or just common faults

All I know is my little saxo is a monster and goes like sh!t of a shovel I don't know how to upload photos if you would kindly advise me on how to do this I'd be more than happy to show of the car

Actually starting to wish I had not bothered even trying to get involved tbh but hey I spouse this is my fault for having a car I know nothing about !!!!!

Go on Photobucket, make an account (it's free), then upload your pics to there. Once you've uploaded your pics you need to get the IMG code and copy & paste onto here (img code starts and ends with [IMG]). It's easy.

Also don't get offended by any comments on here, nothings aimed as a personal attack!!

Never had any problems with My last 2 saxo's brilliant wee cars

Well to be fair, someone with little or no experience with cars modded or otherwise is going to take the seller at their word and we all know how sellers like to blag about mods that are compete BS. How many times has someone bought a 'cammed' car only to realise 'cammed' means it in fact has camshafts....
If the OP has in fact had that much bad luck then I feel for you dude. Like all cars you get the good and the bad. Your Saxo is now an investment, ha, so stick with it and dont be affraid to dif the spanners out and have a crack at something yourself. The worst you can do is break it and have to buy a new bit which will probably be cheap anyway cause they're cheap wee motors.
