Clutch Failure!!!

So i was told that the clutch on my car was replaced 3 weeks before i bought my car, it was now 11 weeks ago but for some strange reason it decided to fuck up on friday.. first thought was cable but nope, clutch pedal is their and can be bump started in gear.. guy is persistent he fitted it but i have never heard of a clutch going in 11 weeks, blamed it on the layshaft in the gearbox.. phoned around some suppliers & they actually asked me what part number it was since my car is on the change year but according to the guy who fitted it, he never got asked this and it is the right clutch..

Any solutions or opinions greatly appreciated!!

there is no layshaft in an MA box.

Bad luck mate. He's either fitted the wrong part or he's telling porkies.

I'll bet you, he's changed the clutch and not changed the release bearing.

And it's the release bearing that has gone ping.

Gearbox off I'm afraid, a new clutch will be obvious if one has been fitted.

Or all he did was have the friction plate re-lined.
    That never lasts long.

Ask if he fitted a clutch kit or just a clutch plate

the kit will include a release bearing which commonly cause a problem

invoice says 3 in 1 clutch kit but ive now had a mechanic and a retired mechanic look at it, first thing they both said was the gearbox hadn't been outta the car, they noticed that from just looking at the bolts.. i said to the guy about the wrong part & shit but he says he will look at it again which means im probbaly gonna be paying his labour -.-

Maybe he printed a fake reciept or, brought the part anf never bothered fitting it and sold it on, or fitted on a friends car, example i had a spark plug recipt im my dash when i got my car (along with other reciepts) and when i took te plugs out they were tkeast a thew years older than the reciept said!

Ahh yeah it could be the input shaft bearing. they usually fail if there's not enough oil in the gearbox, or by doing lots of burnouts.
