General Electrical/Starting Help

Right guys, not Saxo related but more for my 2nd Golf. Its a 1.6 on a Weber carb and manual choke.

A few weeks ago I came to the car (It's been stood a few months) and the battery was dead. I put a new battery and it turned over but still wouldn't start. I put a new fuel pump on it and it was fine. It started and it ran beautifully.

I've now come to the car again and the battery is dead. There is no stereo/sub/amp that can be drawing power. Put jump leads onto my other Golf and I have power but it won't turn over. It won't even try. Dash lights work, interior lights work, external lights work. Also, it won't bump start.

Where do I go next guys?

    Right, update time!

I started this morning with hearing the starter "click" when turning the car over. I threw the battery on from my car and it was the same.

I started by testing the voltage and earth. Power from the starter and earthed on the battery, 13V. Power from the battery and earthed on the starter, 13V. So I know the earth is fine. I then tested the power at the starter (Powered and earthed there), 13V.

I got the missus to turn it over while I checked voltage and it struck up. The starter sounded as though it was jammed on for about 8 seconds. Turned it off, turned it over and its back to just "clicking" when turning it over.S

Safe to say the starter has had it?

Starter has had it,possibly causing a current drain.
