Important! : Airbag light issue!?

  1. #1
Hi everyone my airbag light is stuck on the dash due to my aftermarket steering wheel, this is what happened i posted on here and stevo sent me a link for a ebay resister, which arrived in fragile condition, i fitted it anyway and it worked, but because of its fragile condition as the wire and resister goes round while turn the actual steering wheel, the resister snapped lol air bag light back on, so i tampered with it, ordered a new one and it never worked? So ordered a new one again, and still never worked, so i plugged my airbag in to see if it would go out still with no joy! (The only thing i can think of is i tried to bridge a wire from hole 1 to hole 2 to see if that worked) like an idiot it didn't lol, but basically no matter if the real airbag or resister is in it dont go off the dash, i kinder think ive made the car think its been in a crash and the airbag has been deployed ?

Please help mot is due :,(

you don't actually plug it into the steering wheel part that moves, take the under steering wheel part off trace the wire and put it in there?
or go scrappy take a the piece outta steering wheel and cut it all with resistor in that wire and then plug it into your wiring, that means its not ruined any of your wiring in car and easily replaceable

Thanks for advice on were to put the resistor but even so the light still stays illuminated? I needed to know why the resistor wont turn the light off even know it did before, but now two new ones wont

Either a faulty resistor or you haven`t connected it correctly.

You could possibly have another fault?

are the wires under the seats connected as they always throw up the light?

My Airbag light is on constant too, cant shift it! Got the machine plugged in to reset it but comes straight back on again. The machine wasnt very useful mind you but any ideas as to why its doing this?
Tried to tell me they couldnt connect to my ecu or something, so that tells me there not very good and probably wont be back there again
    Thanks

Right the orange cable coming from the dash to the airbag ring, cut the plug off.Bare the the 2 wires then crimp a female spade connector to each wire. Then push a 5 amp blade fuse onto the connectors.Doesn`t matter which wire you put on which of the fuse connectors.

Stevo sorry to be a pest, but i found my problem, its not the resistor, its the orange cable that plug into the air bag, the connection provelm seems to be in the section were you plug that wire into the black circle thing, that spins with the steering wheel, and which tuens your indercator off after a turn, get what im getting at? I was wondering if you had any advice, can i find a connection further down the loom to put the resistor ? I dont really want to replace the black spinny thing thanks

Just replied to your message, however thinking about it another option is go on ebay or down the scrappy & replace the loom as theres a break in the cable(internally)somewhere.

Thanks i did google 'were does the airbag wire lead too' so i could splice into it, further down the loom, i think if we knew that we could help a lot of people to just splice the fuse in at the start of the SRS loom, that would save so much hassle lol or if only there was a fuse or relay to just switch the whole piece of crap off! But yeah i looked under foot well and couldn't see it but i found a single orange wire same thickness going between the centre console which i haven't made an attempt to mess with it just incase that is the wire leading to under the seats /:
