Drivers door lock, doesn't lock or unlock with key

Hi guys, I have a standard 2001 forte.
No central locking or remote central locking with is model.

I have a problem with the drivers door lock, the key is a bit snug going into the lock, and won't turn at all either way, not one bit, I've tried spraying lots of wd40 in the lock but he key starts to twist when you force it.
It locks and unlocks fine from inside the car, and the door pin moves up and down freely.

All the locks have been changed at some point before i owned it as the keys arent standard.

Is there anything that could be broken that could be replaced, Ideally I don't want to change all the locks over again!!

    Thanks, James.

Well if the keys have been cut, i.e. not the original keys, this would cause the problem you mentioned. I had a new key cut a few weeks ago as I only have one key and its twisted slightly and I was worried about snapping it in the stiff fuel cap. The 'cut' key works fine in the fuel cap but thats it, it doesnt work in the doors or ignition because the pins are so worn and as they've worn with the old key and the new key has the same profile but is slightly more 'aggressive', it wont turn the locks. Just a possiblilty.

The keys haven't been cut, the whole lock set has been changed, I don't know if this a common problem or not? I just don't fancy changing the the locks again :/

if it opens the passenger doors fine, then your drivers door barrel is worn out I'm afraid.

As above be careful how much force you use to turn the key,as i`ve known keys to snap off in the barrel.A new lock set maybe the only answer, but whip the doorcard off & check if anythings come off 1st.

I snapped a barrel clean off once during winter. Happy days...
