gti leather airbag problem.

   evening
   
   bought a 106 gti recently and sods law on the way home the arbag light started flashing. had a quick look online and saw that after 10 years the seatbelt pre tensioners need doing, are these the 2 cables and connecter under the front seats?
   
   if so just wondering what the best way to sort this is? saw that it may just be the connecter thats faulty so could i just cut it out and connect the wires together again? if not then any suggestions are welcome.

   LIES.
   
   It's only recommended they get changed after 10 years. they will work well beyond that.
   
   Remove the connector and join the wires directly.

   well mine obviously do need doing
   all be it after 15 years cheers mate will give that a go tomorrow.
   hows best to connect wires like those?

   Solder them and use a bit shrink wrap.

   Yours don't need doing, unless they've been fired.

   The airbag squib behind the steering wheel maybe faulty.

   Flashing is usually when a system component is disconnected entirely.
   
   i.e faulty squib, passenger airbag.
   
   Lets face it, if you crash a saxo.106 you're fucked, just remove the whole system

   sorted it i think. bit of an odd one as the wires were kinda trapped in the seat railings and the seat has never fully clicked in the place so my girlfriend is always sliding in it pulling it about, just moved it and it hasnt come on since
   I knew it was the passenger seat as it hardly came on when i was in the car by myself, then i hit the passenger seat and it started flashing haha
