Help! :(

Right, cutting a long story short

I fitted new brake discs and pads recently, all working fine (Hooray for me!)

Partner's mum's boyfriend said he was able to do the balljoint, so we went for it. We have no reason to doubt him.

    Basically

    1. No old balljoints were removed
    2. No new balljoints were fitted
    3. Driveshaft leaked gearbox oil (replaced gearbox oil after driveshaft connected)
    4. Brakes barely work now
    5. I'm sure the wheel isn't straight!?!?
    6. The wheel nuts DO NOT come off, from the side he attempted to work on

The brakes and the wheel nuts are the 2 I am concerned/irate about

What could have happened in this process, that would make the brakes barely work. They seem to work when light braking, but any more and the car doesn't care.
Looking behind the wheel, there is a lot of gunk on it. Quite thick and black?

The wheel nut; attempted removing bolts yesterday.. no luck.
Added WD40 where I could.. came back to it today

I have literally stood/jumped on the wheel brace, and no budge.. at all

Any ideas how the fudge this would happen?

    Please help

Sounds like the wheel nuts have been crossed into the hub. Garage will probably get them out with a windy gun.

Mine were the same on both of my Saxos. I got a random big bar from some where and slid the wheel wrench inside, pushed my weight on that and that did the trick

im guess cv boot grease on the brake disc.

    Go and punch him.

cheers for all the replies guys, my dad is a bit heavier than me so I got him on the bar, it budged after a while.. haha

regarding the cv boot grease, what can I do about that? :/

Cv boot grease leaking is either a spilt cv boot or no circlip/jubilee clip being fitted to the cv boot.

If CV grease has gotten onto the pads and discs then it has contaminated the friction material of your pads and basically rendered them useless. Yes they will work but not anywhere near the efficiency they should do. You could certainly clean them up with a fuck ton of brake cleaner but on the long haul the pads and discs are going to be much less efficient at stopping you and will need replaced sooner. Your call of course but personally I wouldnt drive with compromised brakes.

The Gaiter has split, can this just be straight-replaced? or repaired?

I will take the pads out and replace. Lucky enough I have a spare set of pads from when I had my old saxo, same pads.. result!

    Cheers!!
