So I had my type r serviced today and honda noted an advisory that my engines noisey (suspect tappets) haven't a clue what they do? How much would this cost to sort out? Apparently its lowering my engine performance.

#2It's your valve clearance mate. They need to be adjusted so the gap is the right tollerance why you'll get a bit noise.
Basics are you take the rocker cover off, set the cam (sure it's the lowest point) undo a lock nut which holds the adjusting screw in place, put a feeler gauge in and adjust it so it's the right gap then do the locknut up again. Pretty simple, should only be a hours labour and maybe a new gasket.
