Important! : Drivers door wont open from inside or outside

as above came to my car this morning and wouldnt open tried using the fob pin went up then straight back down got in from pass side tried to pull door pin up alot of resistance and only came up a little and then shot straight back down ik the best thing to do is take the door card off but the torx by the mirroris conceled by the dash any suggestions much appreciated

already tryed:

blast it full of wd40
unplugged battery still no joy

Wind the window down fully & then try & insert something thin down between the window & the rubber,to pull up the control rod.

Mine did that for a while but if i held the lock up whilst pulling the door handle it would open. Try that, basically whats happening inside is as the catch releases its knocking the lock up. Also try from the outside turn the key and whilst holding it turned pull the door handle. Good luck i feel your pain mate

tried that mate thats how i get in pass side because central locking just bounces up and down but have completely unplugged it from drivers door but still no luck

Might help but my passenger side door pin was stuck and it used to just lock and unlock. Could be the other side.

Probs gunna have to bust your door card mate to get to the mechanism, shouldnt be too much for another from a scrappies

door pin stuck, get the door card out and readjust the pin.

Already got the car off nothing is loose or hitting against anything and can't take mechanism out cuz it's held in by 3 bolts in the apature wich I can't get at because it won't open

Try and unhook the door handles from the mechanism (will be awkward) and then manually pull the catch on the mechanism with a screwdriver. Failing that angle grinder... i just got a whole replacement door for mine of ebay with window and mechanisms etc delivered for 55 quid. A small price to pay really to be able to get into a car through the correct door!

you could try and use a dremel with a flexible attachment to try and drill the screws out from the inside or to cut through the lock mech and release the door, try to save the lock itself because you want to keep that so you can still use your keys once you've fixed everything!

i would buy a door but to find a topaz one is like a needle in a haystack and i thing im gonna have to try and remove the lock from the inside but try to save the actual barrel

This happend to mine I took the door card/interior off had a fiddle with the the catch that pops up when u unlock it and its worked fine since

Its easy to take the barrel out mate theres a metal clip that slides tight up against the inside of the door youl need to lever it out it will pull towards the front of the car mate when thats out the barrel will becom loose and its just a case of taking the piece of metal out of it.and then itl pop out.
Try drilling the rivets out that hold the outer handle on that way you can take the handle off thus giving easy access to the mechanism

so had a look again today took the lock barel out and gave the main catch lever a tap with a hammer in the direction to open it and still no joy is there anyway i can remove the whole mech from the inside cuz ill just go scrappers and get another instead of having to ruin the door

Like I said try to use a dremel with a flexi attachment and drill the three screws attaching it to the door off from the inside.

It would take ages though and unless you have a rare colour, it'll be faster and less hassle to just buy a door the same colour and just cut the old door off

You might be able to mangle the mech enough from the inside so that it releases the door so you could always try that?

its topaz gold mate

its such a pain aswell to get at no space inside the door cant count the amount of times ive cut myself

I dont think you can get at it with a dremel. Have you tried taking off the inside trim by the rear seats to see if you can get undo the bit the catch clipd onto its a long shot but deffo worth a look. Maybee try cutting back some of the inside of the door that will be hidden behind the door card to give yourself some space to work. And have you looked on ebay for doors im sure there where gold ones on there the other week when i was looking for mine.

i had a look at removing the catch but i cant unbolt it from inside the rear quater because the bolts have no where to go when undone and had a look on the bay found a door so im gonna keep my eye on it but also keep having a fiddle with the lock i might remove the plastic covering and see if i can actually get at the main mechanism

Finally got my door open

there was a white plastic cover on the lock smashed this with a screw driver and a bit of persuasion it smashe and pop went the door only prob now is i cant lock it

but ill just go scrappers and get one

Did you have any luck getting your driver door open saxorookie16 I got the exact same problem on my 03 vtr don't wanna destroy the door card due to being a vts interior, stevo67 what would that do if window done the door pin just bounces up and down any ideas or pictures would be much appreciated

If you pull door card off with force it will just pull the self tapping screw out by the mirror this is what I did and my lock was seized had to smash all of the plastic backing off with a huge flat head and hammer then the door just piped open
